this obscure lost soundtrack for an even more obscure (and also lost and never finished) italia violenta cop movie was recently discovered when i bought the dusty reel tapes from a restaurant owner in fiumicino, a seaside town near rome. panter 777 aka il labirinto di roma violenta aka the maze of violence, he told me, was directed by gervasio giardano in 1981 and was considered too (politically) explicit by the movie production company who dropped the project after the first screening. the soundtrack, an explosion of wahwah funk riffs and juicy analog synthesizers, was composed by an obscure band called nacho patrol. the restaurant owner, who wishes to remain anonymous, was one of the band members and composed most of the tracks. electric arguments is the first fireman album in 10 years, and this song based album couldnt be more different than its predecessors. for those who dont know by now, the fireman is a collaborative project between music icon paul mccartney and revered producer youth. the pair first worked together in the 90s when they made two ambient dance albums. originally the firemans identity was anonymous and was eventually revealed by the press as being paul and youth. in september it was announced that the fireman would this year release their first brand new material in a decade and this time there was a big difference - the duo had found their voice. speculation began, one studio insider was reported as saying the new songs sounds like arcade fire meets led zeppelin. certainly so far, anyone who has already heard the album has commented on just how accessible electric arguments is, compared to the first two fireman albums. this album is an eclectic and diverse collection of songs that show paul is still interested in pure musical possibilities. each track was written and recorded in the space of one day. the fireman went into the studio with no plan or clear direction of how they wanted the album to sound. the project took a life of its own and the results will surprise anyone expecting to hear the previous sound of the band.

when i first started making the drum on my mpc it sounded like a battle of drums i then added some stabs from the machines, trying to make it sound like the oldschool chicago tracks. this track is all about editing, drum programming and of course the inimitable tap repeat touch that only the mpc can generate. the end result is ninted house, a pure floor killer for all you real house heads. the clash is not a reference to the band but i felt the track goes well with ninted house it has the same mpc groove. stabs and hip hop sampled voices that remind us of those kind of tracks, where editing and sound mixing are more important than the musical elements. its that breadth in house music that i love. enjoy those two floor killers and dance ur ass off! franck roger

a very special compost release with two very rare tracks! the a-side features a great remix of beanfields >tides< with amazing vocals from bajka - of course its not quite up there with the unbelievable carl craig mix but then that would be an uphill struggle. ripperton from the lazy fat people adds his moody, deep slant to the track, less anthemic than carl craig but a more than welcome alternative. this mix was available for a short time as bootleg with ricardo villaloboss remix of depeche modes >sinner in me< on the flip and sold out quickly despite the poor sound quality. finally, one year later, this great tune sees it official release completely remasterd in chrystal clear sound - get it, play it, love it! in 2006 the duo tom wieland and marc frank - better known as 7 samurai - crafted a fine remix of invisible sessions under their panoptikum moniker. when michael reinboth considered this remix for his new future sounds of jazz compilation the guys decided to contribute even a little bit more: an excusive new version which became a definitely highlight of the whole compilation. the panoptikum 2007 remix surprisingly takes a leaf out of innervisions book for a smooth deep houser with a slighty techy sound and a touch of detroit in the vein of Âme or henrik schwarz. in contrast to the vocal version included on fsoj this 12inch features the trippy instrumental version. ace stuff! two must have tracks - all killer, no filler!

with his now second release on mauritius, marc vision might still be a newbie to the label, but definitely not to the scene. apart from being an experienced dj since ages with a deep bond to germanys superclub >tribehouse<, he can look back on diverse releases as vision & canedy (on scuba, avalanche, plusquam & hadshot rec.), vita (together with trance pioneer taucher on labels such as tracid traxx & on a mission), visiontool (together with marc o tool on andry nalins label superfly rec.) and finally as marc vision himself (on mauritius, poison, underworld & earregular rec.). >obsession< leaves no doubt being a sure floor filler. subtly but effective the track begins with a deep bassline and develops into a kooky rave-house-monster. >the finest< on the flipside tackles things deeper and more atmospheric, but when a bulky bassline suddenly says hello half way of the track, the unmistakable command is hands up!

supported by 2000 and one, anja schneider, jesse rose, loco dice, shlomi aber, trickski, tobi neumann, to name a few.. once again theres a real nod to the old school here in a track inspired by arthur russell. rich, warm analogue pads and subtle fx flashes from the space echo build an enchanting groove. the intensity gradually develops with sounds slowly evolving, lending a deep hypnotic feeling to proceedings, until the chord progression opens out and you cant help but smile. a genuine end of night anthem and when dixon does his own edit you know your onto something special... version: double for your money, with an extra version of the original that doesnt open out into the full stabs and maintains a deeper groove. martin landsky remix: with a tight, tribal tom pattern and straight ahead groove martin landsky achieves a darker more spaced out feeling with his remix. he pushes the pads to a dubbed out climax without fully opening out the progression and this fully hits the spot. martin landsky has been making waves as a dj and producer since the mid-nineties and is one of the key producers at steve bugs excellent poker flat recordings and running his own intim records.. hes compiled many mix cds for labels such as poker flat, systematic and the partysan compilation series. his debut album was >in between< for pokerflat and since then hes remixed the great & good as well as producing several stunning releases and jetting about with his box of records
